The Jalak Suren (Sturnus contra), also known as the Indian Starling, is a species native to the Indian subcontinent and Southeast Asia. This bird typically inhabits small groups in lowland areas and valleys. While commonly found in urban and rural settings, Jalak Suren tends to be less audacious compared to the Purple Starling.

This medium-sized bird exhibits a striking black and white plumage, with notable sexual dimorphism in body size, periocular skin, feather patterns, tail structure, and toe configuration. Like other songbirds, the Jalak Suren possesses anisodactyl feet, which feature three toes facing forward and one toe facing backward.
